Production Control for Powder Coating Industry.
The complete Powder Coating Production Control System Consists of the following modules:
Pricing / Costing
A sophisticated set up that takes into account the properties of the individual items that are going to be painted, the type of paint or powder that is going to be used as well as the Paint System that is to be applied to the job. This allows the user to calculate the actual chargeable area and the the actual painted area. Area calculation formulae can be set up for different item groups giving the user the facility to accurately predict material requirements. Loadings can also be assigned for difficult to paint, oversize or undersize items.
Quotations
The above Princing / Costing Matrices can then be used to produce Quotations for the users' sales prospects and customers. A fixed quote document template comes as standard with the system, but the user can also export / merge the quotation details into their own Microsoft Word Document templates. The system then tracks the status of each quote from Presented to the Customer to Win or Loss.
If the ERP / Scheduling module is installed presented quotes can be converted to Work Orders with a minimum of fuss.
Work Orders, ERP, Scheduling and Production
To start the Production Process the user must create a Work Order. Work Orders can be created by converting Quotes or can be entered by an operator manually. A facility to import items from Microsoft Excel spreadsheets exists. To speed up data entry. This data is then used for the ordering of Paint / Powder and the scheduling and sequencing of jobs on the various Production Lines.
Quality Control, Delivery and Invoicing
Once a Job is Completed in the factory, Quality Control Information is entered against the job.
Following this a Delivery Docket is created and the Job is ready for invoicing. Invoices must be checked and authorised before they can be transferred to the Accounting Software Package.

Quotations
The quotation module allows the user to set up and maintain a sales prospects and customer data base. It is really a mini sales management system.
Data used from the Pricing / Costing Module can then be used to create quotes.
Quotes can be cloned to enable the sales representative to create variations of an original quote at the press of a button.
A comprehensive reporting system gives the user information on Quote conversion rates (Wins vs Losses) and follow up statistics.
Quotes that have been accepted by the Customer can be converted to Work Orders at the press of a button, if the ERP / Scheduling Module is Installed.
Work Orders, ERP, Scheduling and Production
Work Order Data is consolidated to give the user an exact idea of what paint or powder stock is required, to make sure that they are ordered in an efficient and timely manner.
Work can then be allocated to the relevant production lines in the sequence desired.
The Shop Floor Module * allows the user to track Jobs on the line and print packing labels when jobs are completed.

Quality Control, Delivery, Invoicing
Finished Jobs are subjected to a Quality Control protocol:
- Suppliers' Batch Numbers
- Short / Over Deliveries of Items
- Items rejected due to damage
- Items reworked
- Additional work Performed
Once this is done a delivery docket is produced and the Job is ready for Invoicing.
Invoicing is performed in three stages:
- Create Invoice
- Edit / Authorise Invoice
- Transfer to Accounting System
Case Study: Vertikote Corp. Pty. Ltd.
In 2014 Vertikote Corp. commissioned Unity Software Pty. Ltd. with the job of converting and improving their ageing Microsoft Access based PCS Production System. The first Version of the new Mircosoft SQL Server based software went live in July 2017. Numerous enhancements followed and have now resulted in the current comprehensive Production Control Software.
